Treffry Tales book launch – meet the author

In the centre of Fowey, a few steps uphill from the parish church, is a building with a tower that looms over the town. But who knows the history of this mini castle, called simply ‘Place’, and the resident family, who have shaped fortunes for hundreds of years?

Author and local historian, Caroline Stephenson, will meet you at the porch of the church and – taking into account the weather for the day – will agree a short programme, to visit parts of town and tell stories. She will select from a tale of the time in the 1800s when the house was subject to a Grand Design make-over, a story of naughty children locked in the tower, an amazing bridge design and a funeral attended by 10,000 or more.

As the walk and readings draw to a close, you will be invited to cross to The Ship Inn and continue looking at the book and asking questions and – if you wish – can purchase refreshments or lunch.
