Introduction – Climate Hope

There is an unfortunate phrase that has become familiar in news, whereby the word Climate is partnered with Emergency. The effect of the combination is to cause widespread anxiety and for many a sense of being powerless, which can quickly turn into despair. Even very young children have been shown to acquire these negative feelings, which they do not understand.

For the past 2 years our Meadow Barns team has been promoting as many routes as possible to reverse the trend of gloom and doom. First came the Green Fridays blog, which summed up latest climate hope news every week since June 2022. That was followed in March 2023 by our first open event, where all in the village of Lanlivery were invited to join in a Ceremony. It was a triumph, for so many reasons, especially the achievement of Red Moor school, where students are not used to meeting others in the community, and certainly not used to performing as drummers, singers or dancers. Everyone was keen to help and we drew inspiration particularly from Jon, the young piper, and Philip Bishop of Truro,

Following the first event, we began to plan more and set up to deliver Half Terms 4 Climate Hope. You will find much more about the progress that followed by visiting the film centre.
