Green Friday Blog

For 3 years and 3 months I have devoted about 5 hours each week to researching, then publishing the results for readers. My topics ranged widely across the globe, investigating the impact of our changing climate and the many opportunities for responding positively, living in greener ways, with a lighter touch on resources of the planet and fellow citizens.

It’s been an amazing thing to do, especially as a small team of dedicated supporters has emerged over time, showing their commitment to searching for hopeful solutions with me.

It was a good model to begin with, but no longer, because unfortunately it has become ever more treacherous to navigate online sources and copy items to share. Today I received an email ref an enormous fine, which I cannot possibly afford and sadly, after the necessary conversations with colleagues and our website designer, we have now closed Green Fridays blog down.

Those who know me well will not be surprised to learn I have figured a method to create a Phoenix version, but this will take some time. It may not be complete until the beginning of 2025. We plan to select about 6 main topics, those for which we think there is greatest interest and we have the most expertise. We will search through the archives and publish the best of our past items again, with replacement images, along with added new material as it arrives.

Commentary on weather events cannot continue, because it is the most difficult topic to write about without breaching photo copyrights. But, inevitably, green building techniques, all the topics about water, other innovative sustainable energy options, motoring/transport, soil/food production/farming for the future … all those will be on the agenda.

While we turn this corner I am really going to miss you! Please if there are topics you remember as being of particular interest and value, or new ones that catch your eye for the future, please write to me about them, using the address cjs@themeadowbarns.co.uk

Thank you! CJS
